Murmle Murmle Marmalade!

I saw a car store called “Something Shiney” I thought it was the most awsome thing ever!!!!!! I’m so full I’m having trouble walking! I just found this resturant in a massive ten day book fair, and there was a buffet. A seven section buffet. I say section because each area was made of several tables pushed together, and each area had more than several full meal style packages. One had fried rice, pork cooked in onion sauce, teriaki chicken, baked potatoes in a creamy sauce and much more. Another was dedicated to finger food, breads, real cheese(!!!!!!) crackers, this amazing tune/mayo/oh-my-god-it-is-good-sauce surrounded by crab, prawns, and hard boiled eggs. I went back for four large plates, each balanced with food to precariousness, one bowl f cream of mushroom soup, one smaller plate just for the CHOCOLATE FONDUE, and a bowl of vanilla icecream, which I held under one of the tiers of the CHOCOLATE FONDUE to drizzle pretty frozen patterns of chocolate on top of the vanilla. Yum. I cant move. It was expensive, so I blew a good chunk of my wages from the last camp on it. It was totaly worth both the price and the subsequent inability to move. Dude. I’m heading back to Mahasarakham soon, maybe on the overnight bus tonight. I’ve been getting around bangkok by myself now, it’s really cool, I can’t wait to live by myself. Independance is fun. I love reading Mim’s blog, it’s fun reading about all the connections woth the people around her, I want to meat (I mean meet of course) all the new people, yay! I saw the cutest thing the other day, A tyre on the side of the road, was being used as a nest for some puppies by this big old mother dog nearby, it was like cuteness squared compressed inside a rubber ring. some of the people I’ve met: Faru! He’s awsome guy from bangladesh, MC for the camps and great with kids. P’kak, the camp manager, a smiley, quiet girl who’s always nice and cheerful. P’Tai: Who are you? I’m Tai. Great, I’m Canadian, but what’s your name? Tai! hehe. One of the groups I worked with called themselves “What’s” But I didn’t know at first, so they came down to the station and I said “What’s your group name?” and half said “Yes!” and the other half said “What!” it was a real who’s on first moment and took a bit of writing to figure out. I thought nobody read this anymore, and was expecting to rant into the cold dark cyberspace for a while, but to my complete suprise I had three comments already! Worship to Jen, Mom and Malaika! w00t! My camera is fried. I’m sad. My stomach is pain, I’m happy anyways. Smal childrenm keep pressing their face against the window and staring at me. I stare at them and they run away. Heh, frightening small chidren is fun.

2 minutes later edit: A guy just stuck his head into the room and said “Fish sticks, Fish sticks” and then left. Awsome and disturbing in the same package.

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

I just have a few minutes before this little internet cafe closes but I thought I’d post what I could anyways, or at least save a draft. It reallyhas been the best and worst of times. I can’t tell you how amazing it’s been, really. I am paid well to go to ocean side and jungle resorts, some have roller coasters or multiple pools, real resrt style things, and I teach three 1-1 1/2 hour classes, play some games, and go to a party. IO get free nice food, and after each activity set, there is a break with baked goods and tea, of which I usually drink 3-7 cups a sitting. Did I mention I get paid? Every so often I realize that, struggle to comprehend the concept, fail, then go back to swimming in the ocean, playing beach volleyball, sipping tea, or whatever other activity I happen to be engaged in at the moment. Yeah. There have been bad times too, though. It’s like the good: Getting paid, swimmming in the ocean, Faru (from bangladesh), bottomless free tea, Broadway production of west side story coming to Thailand, etc. The bad: Passing out in a thai government hospital (which was actually good because it took me off the waiting list), the needle inserted into and taped to my hand (I hate needles), loosing my cell phone, having to get new shoes and the closest size of runner in the entire area is 45 and expensive, getting addicted to Megatokyo all over again. A few panic attacks later, I’m okay, except for a rather determined cough. And the … 0.o: students asked to sing an english song sing in thai instead, and all start crying (I found out later it was about far away friends, it was powerful, and good I didn’t understand, I probably would have cried too). Y’know how Dad says “excrement” instead of “excellent?” I started doing that, then like a day later I needed to find a bathroom, finally found one, and reflexively said “excrement.” I laughed. BUgger I had all these ideas of wierd, happy and sad things that happened, but theyfly right out of my head when I sit down. Bugger. Olivia, I need your email, I have an idea. :-) The death note movie is AWSOME!! They did L perfectly, I was amazed! It was as good as I could possibly expect it to be. I started reading Hikaru no Go, and five volumews in, it’s still fun. Grrr ayy! (t your frosted flakes (do you) hear (what I)). Did I mention the broadway version of West Side story came to Thailand in celebration of the King’s 60 year as king? Did I freak out about how awsome it was? There is nothing bad about the plays we do in Nelson, but this was just another level, you can’t make a comparison because it’s justr a whole different experience. It was the conductor’s 2,000th performance. Wow. The dancing was amazing, it was perfectly synchronized too, and that is NOT EASY WHEN THEY DANCE LAKE THAT!!  The singing was phenomenal. Wow, really all I can say about it is WOW, because I don’t know the words for it. I’m sending Robin the credit card like plastic, golden ticket. Every so often, in moments of ” Oh my god I want to show ______ this” I realize just how much I miss you people. Nobody is like you guys. Period. Or as I’ve been told every other person that isn’t american or canadian calls it, Full Stop. I knew they were the same thing but I never thought period was soo unpopular. I took my camera to the only person Ifound who does HP cameras. He said, after three days, I can fix it, 3000 baht. Grrr, I don’t know what I shoud do, so parents, expect a phone call several hours before you read this asking for advice. I broke page four hundred. I don’t have to get up tommorrow, so I canactually go to bed a civilized late hour. Time for Pepsi! When I’m bored and don’t know what to do, I plan my life, financial goals, schooling, living plans, jobs, further education to get a better job, etc. I decided the other day that if I take japanese in my spares in university, I can live for a year in japan, I mean anime/tech central, I’ll in theory have a degree in computer science, what better place to go?I really miss cheese. I mean really, did I tell you about the dream I had where all my friends and family cam to thailand and they come down the road carrying all my favorite foods? It’s burned into my memory. :-) Jen was carrying pizza.

Teaching English in Bangkok

We talked to Evan last night, he is teaching English in Bangkok and wanted me to put a quick post up saying that he is fine, but has not been able to access the Internet from the Resort he is staying at.

He said sometimes it is staight English that he teaches, but yesterday he taught a Math class and earlier in the week he taught the Solar System and some Social Studies. He had 24 students in the class and said that he was having lots of fun. He will post as soon as he finds access.
